Irrelevant Music News

Hello, boys and girls. Before you ask, no, I won't make excuses this time. I just couldn't be bothered to post anything since I was busy with family stuff and Easter-related activities. I didn't go to concerts, either, so it's not you, it's me. I like it.

I was going through the NME news page tonight and realised, yet again, that there was absolutely nothing worthwhile being reported. Cases in point:

(image (c) Guy Eppel) The Cure apparently ignored requests to end their Coachella set on time on April 19 and finished the set unplugged. Since they tend to be great, the only interesting part of the report was the photo of Mr. Smith's ungraceful descent into old age. Good music, though.

Franz Ferdinand, who stopped being entertaining halfway through their first album, will collaborate with Little Boots. Call me cynical, but nothing FF do at this point can possibly resuscitate their mojo.

The reformed Jane's Addiction is plagued by bickering. Never would have guessed. What were the odds?

Amy Winehouse wants to adopt a kid, since Blake Fielder-Civil, The One Who Was Imprisoned, knocked up another woman. It seems that her friends are wisely asking her to refrain. Who wouldn't? We're talking about a rebound kid.

I saved the best bit for last. Lady GaGa lost her favourite teacup! She paid a taxi driver to find it, but we haven't yet confirmed whether the hallowed relic has been retrieved from the London hotel where it was carelessly abandoned.

These are the reasons why I update so slowly. When artists' teacups are news, I'd rather read a book than dig around for new music. Email me with your finds, if any, and don't be disheartened.

Cheers!
